A few days after controversial West Ham star Marko Arnautovic made his way to the Chinese Super League, a deal many fans are happy with, the club are still tasked with finding his replacement.
The Hammers have since been in the market for a fresh and exciting new attacking option that may kickstart their season and propel them upwards.
One name that has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium is young Celta Vigo star Maxi Gomez, who managed to notch 13 goals and five assists last campaign - catching the eye of suitors across Europe.
However, it seems that West Ham look set to miss out on Gomez as he looks set to join Valencia instead.
Reportedly valued at £44 million, a large portion of Hammers fans don’t seem too bothered about missing out on his signature, despite the fact Manuel Pellegrini’s roster could be devoid of attackers very soon.
The general mood seems to be that Gomez was too over-priced and the club could possibly do better with homegrown talent.
Others aren’t too content with West Ham’s failure to snap up the wonderkid though, with a small section of supporters blaming the club’s tight purse strings and lack of ambition on potentially being left with Jordan Hugill as a sole striking option.
Rival supporters, on the other hand, can’t wait to jump on this news as an opportunity to poke fun - with some suggesting alternative routes like re-signing Andy Carroll or pursuing Danny Welbeck.
