West Ham fans cancel protest ahead of relegation decider with Leeds

West Ham supporters group Hammers United have cancelled their planned protest ahead of this weekend’s relegation decider at home to Leeds.

Hammers United have staged a season-long campaign of protests against West Ham’s owner, David Sullivan, as well as former vice chair Karren Brady.

Brady stepped down as vice-chair last month after 16 years at the club. But Sullivan remains the majority owner and increased his share in the club shortly after Brady’s departure.

Hammers United have consistently called for Sullivan to step down.

However, with the club battling against relegation heading into the final game of the season, they have decided to cancel any protests in a bid to support the team.

The decision comes after Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening, meaning the battle for survival will go down to the last match.

Hammers United posted on X on Tuesday evening to confirm the decision.

“There will be no protests against Sullivan on Sunday,” the post read.

“We’ve done it for all the games bar the first few.

“We’ve always got behind the boys. And we will do that on Sunday.

“We have to win.

“Spurs have to lose.

“Que sera.”

Had Spurs beaten Chelsea, then West Ham would have been relegated, while a draw would have effectively sent them down due to Spurs’ superior goal difference.

Instead, West Ham remain two points from safety with one game to play and know that if they beat Leeds and Spurs lose at home to Everton, then they will stay up.
