West Ham face Gillingham in FA Cup third round

West Ham United have been drawn against Gillingham away in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Hammers kick off their campaign in the competition at the start of 2020, with ties set to take place on the weekend of 3-6 January.

The draw, which was completed by former Arsenal captain Tony Adams and ex-Manchester City defender Micah Richards, saw West Ham pulled out alongside the League One club.

Gillingham made it to the third round thanks to a 3-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers on Sunday, and will be looking to cause an upset against the Hammers, as they welcome Manuel Pellegrini's men to the Priestfield Stadium.

The game will will also kick off a minute later than the allotted time, due to the FA's link with the 'heads-up' campaign in an attempt to encourage supporters to take 60 seconds to think about their mental health.

West Ham have played Gillingham just 10 previous meetings, with the Hammers coming out victorious in six of the games.

The last game came in 2005, when West Ham came out as 1-0 winners in the Championship, thanks to a goal from Marlon Harewood.

The two sides have never met in the competition before.
