West Ham face Callum Wilson blow - but offered Mario Balotelli on free transfer

Bournemouth expect Callum Wilson to sign a lucrative new four-year deal next week to ward off interest from West Ham .

The England striker scored 15 goals and picked up 10 assists in 33 games for the Cherries last season.

West Ham have targeted him after finally losing out on Celta Vigo marksman Maxi Gomez who is heading to Valencia.

The Irons have already been offered free agent Mario Balotelli and are considering their options after allowing Andy Carroll to leave on expiry of his contract and after selling Lucas Perez.

Everton and Leicester are also understood to be big admirers of Wilson’s talents.

Wilson signed a new contract last year after similar interest from West Ham.

He went on to have a productive campaign and he is seen by Eddie Howe as a key member of his team.

Agreement on a new deal is the latest in a string of canny deals pulled off by Bournemouth after the sale of defender Tyrone Mings to Aston for £26.5million and the capture of £4million defender Jack Stacey from Luton.

West Ham need attacking reinforcements this summer following the departure of Marko Arnautovic to China.

The Austrian completed his move to Shanghai SIPG earlier this week after a complete break down in relations at the London Stadium.

Javier Hernandez and Jordan Hugill are the only senior strikers at West Ham at present and both could leave before the start of the season.

Former Manchester United striker Hernandez admitted he hopes to be allowed to depart with Fiorentina interested.

Hugill has failed to make the grade since his arrival from Preston and spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough.
