West Ham duo to join teammates at Switzerland pre-season training camp on Sunday

West Ham will have almost their full complement of first team players as of Sunday night when Declan Rice and Lukasz Fabianski join up with their teammates in Switzerland for the pre-season training camp.

The duo have completed their contracted holidays for the summer following their international exertions over the summer - Rice playing for England in the UEFA Nations League finals and Fabianski playing for Poland in two Euro 2020 qualifiers for his country.

They have each had three weeks off in the aftermath, with Rice heading to Dubai with former Chelsea academy teammate Mason Mount for a break while also keeping himself in shape with some fitness work in the Middle East.

Fabianski meanwhile returned to his homeland in Poland for some much-needed time off following his Hammer of the Year campaign in 2018/19 for Manuel Pellegrini's team.

The two players will fly out to Switzerland later today (Sunday) and will start training with their teammates on Monday morning, where Pellegrini and fitness coach Jose Cabello is putting the players through triple training sessions on some days ahead of their first friendly next Thursday against SC Altach.

Fabianski will be one of five goalkeepers out at the camp in the Swiss Alps. Roberto, David Martin, U23 stopper Joseph Anang and 16-year-old wonderkid Krisztian Hegyi are already out there.

Rice will join fellow midfielders Mark Noble, Carlos Sanchez and Pedro Obiang at the camp, as well as youngster Joe Powell.

The players already in Bad Ragaz have been there for nearly a week and have been put through some gruelling sessions by Cabello in order to get match fit ahead of the new season, which kicks off on August 10 with a lunchtime kick-off against Manchester City at London Stadium.

It remains to be seen if wantaway frontman Marko Arnautovic will be joining them in Switzerland later. The Austrian forward is closing in on a transfer to the Chinese Super League for £22.5m after requesting to leave the Hammers for the second time in seven months.  His move to Shanghai SIPG has yet to be confirmed by either side.
