West Ham could face Arsenal before Premier League restart as clubs consider streaming friendlies

Fans could get the chance to watch their Premier League sides in action before June 17, with clubs considering streaming friendlies before the restart.

West Ham are in talks with Crystal Palace over a friendly at the London Stadium, with the Hammers also thought to be in line to play Arsenal.

The Gunners and Spurs are thought to be exploring their options over friendlies, although Mikel Arteta’s side start their season earlier than most, given their game in hand at Manchester City.

Watford are also close to confirming two friendlies at Vicarage Road before they pick up their campaign against Leicester on June 20.

The Premier League this week gave the go-ahead to clubs to arrange friendlies before competitive games resume, so long as the opponents picked are within a 90-minute drive and players travel to and from matches in their own cars.

Given the strict social distancing and safety protocols in place, clubs would be hesitant to bring in any external broadcasters, meaning they are free to stream any games via their own channels.
