West Ham close on £45million Sebastien Haller transfer swoop

West Ham are confident of tying up their record-breaking move for £45million Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller.

The Irons are on course for a medical for the 25-year-old completed after losing their no.1 striker target this summer, Maxi Gomez, to Valencia.

The former France Under-21 man scored 33 goals in 77 appearances for Frankfurt after joining from Utrecht two years ago.

West Ham will pay £40.5million with another £4.5million in add-ons. The club are also hunting a second striker but are focused on getting the Haller transfer completed.

A Frankfurt statement read: “The club and West Ham have agreed on formalities regarding the transfer.

“As a result, Haller has the approval to complete the medical examination in London. Should this take a positive course, Haller will join the Hammers.

Manuel Pellegrini has been desperate for a new frontman to replace Mark Arnautovic who forced a cut-price move to Chinese club Shanghai SiPG two weeks ago.

With a fee agreed for Haller, West Ham want to ensure they are not outmaneuvered for a second time in this window.

They were made aware on Tuesday morning that Haller’s representatives had had late interest from elsewhere but it is understood the player is keen to work with former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The club had promised to back Pellegrini in revamping their forward line after also allowing injury-prone Andy Carroll to leave along with Lucas Perez.

Another of their strikers, Jordan Hugill, is in talks over a move to Wigan after failing to make an impact in east London.
