West Ham close in on Said Benrahma transfer deal after key Brentford breakthrough

West Ham have moved one step closer to landing a £30million deal for Said Benrahma after a breakthrough between the forward and Brentford.

Benrahma's dream move to the Premier League hit the buffers over the weekend after an issue between the Championship club and his representative put the deal in jeopardy.

However, it is understood that the two parties are set to resolve any issues, allowing the move to West Ham - which has been sealed with a fee of around £25m to be paid up front - to be completed before Friday's 5pm BST deadline for the domestic transfer window.

The move had been further complicated by the fact that Benrahma was away on international duty with Algeria, but the 25-year-old has now returned to London having come off the bench in Tuesday night's 2-2 draw with Mexico, played in the Netherlands.

West Ham's ownership have been under pressure to land David Moyes' transfer targets during this window after sanctioning the controversial sale of Grady Diangana to West Brom earlier in the summer.

The Hammers have been on a far tighter budget than in previous seasons but have cleared the books somewhat by loaning Felipe Anderson to FC Porto and negotiating the termination of Jack Wilshere's contract, while they freed up further funds with the sales of Jordan Hugill, Albian Ajeti and the free transfer of goalkeeper Roberto.

Benrahma will become the third new arrival at West Ham this window, following the signing of Vladimir Coufal from Slavia Prague and Craig Dawson's season-long loan from Watford.

The Hammers also made Tomas Soucek's loan deal permanent before the end of last season.
