West Ham captain Mark Noble aims brilliant dig at Spurs when reflecting on season

West Ham brought down the curtain on their third season at London Stadium on Saturday with a fine 3-0 win over a hopeless Southampton, with just one trip to Watford remaining for Manuel Pellegrini's men this campaign.

The Hammers could finish as high as ninth in the table should results go their way and they see off the Hornets next Sunday as Manuel Pellegrini's first season in charge comes to a close.

It's been an inconsistent season for the Hammers, losing their first four games of the campaign before going on a four-match win streak in December to propel them into the European equation. They have tailed off a bit in 2019 but have won their last two games in a row to end the season reasonably well.

Skipper Mark Noble has once again silenced his doubters who say he is past it and can't be a fixture in Pellegrini's side in the future. The captain has made 30 appearances across all competitions this season, helping himself to three goals and adding four assists as well as the Hammers aim for a top ten finish to represent a decent first season of the Pellegrini era.

Noble led the players on a lap of appreciation on the London Stadium after their win over Saints on Saturday and was asked post-match by the club's in-house media team what his favourite moment of the season was.

As if West Ham fans didn't love him enough, he endeared himself to them even more with his answer.

"Last week [the win over Spurs]," Noble joked."

"Obviously the game here against Man Utd was really good, away at Everton, but that win last week because of the first win there, the first they have conceded, it was a really good moment for the football club."

No rest for Manuel Pellegrini as he begins planning West Ham's summer transfer moves

Michail Antonio scored the only goal of the game the weekend before last as he became the first visiting player to hit the back of the net at Spurs' new stadium in the fifth game to be held there since Mauricio Pochettino's side moved back in.
