West Ham boss Pellegrini's zinger reply when asked about London Stadium technical areas

West Ham have been in the London Stadium for nearly three seasons now, yet the jokes still remain.

"You need binoculars to the see the pitch" is the common one among travelling fans who venture to E20 to take in a game of Association Football but also, the sheer size of the technical areas in front of the managers dugouts.

The distance between the pitch and where Manuel Pellegrini and his substitutes take their seats for the game is, well, rather big. You could probably play a game of tennis in there.

You can rack up a few steps for sure by walking between the dugout and pitch, though Pellegrini is normally stationed on the touchline throughout the game while assistants Enzo Maresca and Ruben Cousillas sit in the plush bucket seats.

If you're a losing manager at the London Stadium then the image of a lone figure standing on the touchline can be quite the sight if no-one is around him.

Hammers boss Pellegrini was asked about that distance at his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon and his response was an absolute zinger to the poor journalist who asked.

Pellegrini said: "You must walk a little bit more.

"It's not that far. You don't need a ten minute taxi to get to the sideline."

For context, the manager was asked about it as the Hammers are preparing to unveil the new claret carpet that has been laid around the running track at their home arena ahead of Saturday's game against Leicester City.
