West Ham boss David Moyes is thrilled that Jesse Lingard’s fine form has been rewarded with an England recall.
Lingard was named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for this month’s England games after impressing for the Hammers since joining on loan from Manchester United in January.
The midfielder has scored four goals for West Ham in six games since moving to London and his form hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Lingard is now back in the England setup and will be hoping to earn a spot in Southgate’s squad at this summer’s rescheduled Euros.
“I am really pleased for Jesse. It is great for him, his performances have warranted it in how he’s played for us,” said Moyes.
“I have to say he’s been very good. We just hope that continues. We want him to keep being positive and showing exactly what he can do on the pitch.
“He’s helped us. He’s been a good acquisition to the squad in January and, as I say, I hope he can add a few more goals between now and the end of the season.”
Lingard is currently on loan at West Ham until the end of the campaign and there has been talk he could stay on a permanent basis.
But Moyes explained that such a deal has not been discussed yet and won’t be until nearer the end of the season.
“We have not thought about that really,” he added.
“We have not taken it any further at the moment. We’ve got him on loan. He is doing a good job for us just now.
“I think we will discuss that and look at it probably nearer the end of the season, but it is not something that we have taken any further than the situation we are in just now.”
