West Ham are now finding control to their attacking intent, says Manuel Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini was delighted with the attacking intent of his West Ham side as they brought a run of four games without a win to an end, beating Burnley 4-2 in an eventful clash at London Stadium.

Record signing Felipe Anderson scored twice after Marko Arnautovic opened the scoring early on, with Javier Hernandez scoring his first League goal of the season late on.

Despite scoring four, there were nervy spells for the hosts, Burnley pulling level twice, but they never looked out of control.

Following a run of games in which he has seen his side waste chance after chance, Pellegrini was delighted to see a consistent attacking approach.

"I tried to have a team that not play with the score on the board, we have a style of play," Pellegrini said.

"You don't need to continue to play towards your own box if you are level or losing, you must continue to play in the same way, and I think that today was a test for the players.

"We were twice in advantage, they drew twice, then we scored the third and then wanted to score a fourth, not just defend our advantage."

He continued: "Maybe [recently] we were playing a little bit fast or nervous inside the final third.

"I think that today we controlled it a bit more, the last pass, so if you score four goals and have five more chances, we improve in that sense."

Having shown they can perform to Pellegrini's standards it is vital that, with a trip to struggling Huddersfield to come next, West Ham prove this was not just a one off against a side which, ahead of the game, had shipped nine goals in two matches.
