West Ham and Michail Antonio launch project for young fans staying at home

The Covid-19 pandemic has seen the United Kingdom, and much of the world, put effectively into lockdown in a bid to stop the spread of the virius.

On Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged all of us to stay at home, only going outside for one hour of exercise per day or for absolutely essential reasons, to go to work or to get food supplies as the coronavirus continues to spread across the country.

The PM himself has contracted the virus, as has Health Secretary Matt Hancock as announced on Friday by both men.

Football too has been affected as the entire game has been suspended at all levels until at least April 30 with no idea yet when the action will return and when leagues will get concluded.

At step three to six of the non-league game, seasons have already been declared null and void and all results expunged from the records.

With no football on, West Ham has laucnhed a couple oif projects to try and keep us all ehtertained during the weeks and months without having a match to go to of a weekend.

Hammers at Home was launched earlier this week which is an online initiative offering support, assistance and regular interaction with the club's fans.

On Friday, a second initiative got under way, Young Hammers at Home, which will give the youngsters challenges to complete while they are stuck at home with schools across the country currently shut down.

Hammers winger Michail Antonio launched the first challenge, which asks for the young Hammers to show their best piece of school work or to demonstrate their best PE activity from the last seven daysk as well as their best goal celebration.

Fans are asked to send the viudeos into HammersChallenges@westhamunited.co.uk by 3pm on Saturday (March 28), for the chance to win playing against Antonio on a game of FIFA 20.

Antonio was beaten by Spurs defender Ryan Sessegnon in a match of the hugely-popular football game last week, with the Hammers winger having to don a Spurs shirt as a forfeit for losing the game 2-0.

Subsequent challenges will be announced at 11am every weekday during school ter time so you will have plenty of opportunities to get involved.
