West Ham agree to extend season ticket renewal deadline after consultation uproar

West Ham fans wanting to renew their season tickets for the 2019/20 season will be given an extra two weeks to make their payments after the club agreed to extend the deadline.

The original date that supporters had to pay their cash by was May 17 but that was extended to May 31st - a bit nearer to pay day for most - after a meeting at the London Stadium last night.

The Official Supporters Board finally had a chance to have their say on the season ticket price hike, which was announced a little more than a fortnight ago and not exactly well-timed as it arrived after the terrible defeat away at Cardiff.

The OSB are the only group that has direct dialogue with the club but they were not consulted over the price rise for the 19/20 season. The youngsters are taking the biggest hit with the hikes but adults season tickets are also affected. That said, the prices remain some of the cheapest in the Premier League.

West Ham fans and club to thrash out season ticket hike argument on Thursday

But the two sides have come to a compromise after an OSB ticket sub committee meeting held in E20 on Thursday night, which was attended by Hammers head of ticketing Nicola Keye, director of marketing and communications Tara Warren and members of the OSB including chairman David Baker.

Football.London understands there are currently 36,000 season ticket holders on the waiting list to add to the 52,500 fans who already hold season tickets.

The club is changing the look of the cards for next season, where they will be etched with pictures of the legend corresponding to the stand for which the ticket is purchased so it'll either have Billy Bonds, Sir Trevor Brooking or Bobby Moore.

It's understood that the deadline extension will also give the club more time to print the new tickets having underestimated previously how long it would take to sort out 52,000 tickets. The change in season tickets is something that was suggested by the Safety Advisory Group at the London Stadium to help stewards identify them easier.
