West Ham adamant Issa Diop NOT for sale amid transfer interest from Manchester United

West Ham United appear determined to keep hold of their centre-back Issa Diop despite speculation growing that Manchester United want to sign him.

Sky Sports News claim that Man United are willing to offer £45m plus a player in order to tempt West Ham into selling Diop, but the Hammers consider the French defender a key part of their plans going forward.

It is thought the club will not even listen to offers below £60m for the player they signed from Toulouse last summer for £22m.

Diop had an impressive season at the London Stadium, making 38 appearances in all competitions and scoring twice.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is prioritising his defence as the most important area of his side to strengthen this summer.

They have been linked with the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire at centre-back in recent weeks, but they clearly believe Diop is also a viable option to pursue.

United condeded 54 goals in the Premier League last season, more than the likes of Leicester , Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.

They also want to sign a new right-back, with Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka appearing the most likely option.

It is not clear which player United would offer to West Ham as a sweetener in the deal, with Solskjaer reportedly keen to move another of players on to make room for signings.

West Ham, meanwhile, have had a busy start to the summer, and have already confirmed the signings of three new players.

Experienced goalkeeper Roberto joined on a free from Espanyol, David Martin signed from Millwall and exciting playmaker Pablo Fornals was confirmed for a reported fee of £25m.

They have also let a number of players go, with the likes of Andy Carroll, Samir Nasri and Adrian all released with their contracts coming to an end.
