West Dunbartonshire youngsters asked to help design rail safety campaign

Creative kids in West Dunbartonshire are being asked for their designs for a new rail safety campaign.

Local rail engineering firm C&G Systems are running the competition, with the winners in three age categories (5-7, 8-11 and 12-16) having their designs displayed on the company’s social media pages - as well as picking up an Amazon gift voucher.

‘Stay safe, stay off the tracks’ is the theme, with entrants asked to tag the company’s Facebook or Twitter pages to be in with a chance of winning.

C&G Systems have been working with Dumbarton Football Club, Network Rail and the British Transport Police to deliver rail safety workshops to kids from schools throughout the area, with Sons stars including captain Stuart Carswell and vice-captain Kyle Hutton getting involved to promote safety on the tracks.

However with those events having hit the buffers due to the coronavirus, managing director Dave Gordon was keen to ensure the message continued to reach youngsters.

He said: “Rail safety awareness is extremely important to us, and even though we have been unable to deliver more sessions across schools at the moment, we are trying to keep the message at the forefront across our social media platforms - and try and get this out to as many kids as possible.”

The deadline for entries is 9pm tomorrow (Wednesday) night.
