West Dunbartonshire voters head to the polls

The polls are open in West Dunbartonshire with seven candidates vying for your constituency vote.

The Dumbarton seat has belonged to Labour’s Jackie Baillie since the inception of the Scottish Parliament in 1999 but she held onto it by just 109 votes during 2016’s election.

The SNP’s Gail Robertson was runner-up that time but it’s Nationalist Toni Giugliano’s turn to try and replace Jackie.

Maurice Corry has represented the West of Scotland as a regional list MSP since the last election but is standing for the constituency seat this time around representing the Conservative and Unionist Party.

There are two independents also standing in Andrew Muir and James Morrison.

Meanwhile Dumbarton’s Jonathan Rainey is representing the Scottish Libertarian Party and Andy Foxall is the Liberal Democrat candidate.

As well as the constituency, you will also be voting for a party on the regional list which covers the West of Scotland. As well as the parties listed above, Alba, the Greens and the likes of All For Unity, the Scottish Family Party and UKIP are also included on the ballot paper for the regional list.

Make sure you use your vote today and keep in touch with the Lennox Herald Facebook and Twitter feeds tomorrow (Friday) for the latest as the votes are counted.
