West Dunbartonshire schoolkids benefit from Eat Out to Help Out scheme

West Dunbartonshire families are getting half price school meals this week and next after the council signed up to the UK Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

The local authority subscribed to Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s initiative aimed at helping boost the hospitality sector.

This means the price of meals at school have been slashed in half on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays which will continue up to and including next Monday.

The scheme will operate by charging children the full cost and then automatically applying a refund to ParentPay accounts by early September.

Education convener Councillor Karen Conaghan said: “This is a great initiative which I’m sure will be welcomed by families at this time. These savings will give children a freshly prepared school meal at a big reduction.”
