West Dunbartonshire residents told to be on their guard against cold callers

Residents are being warned to be on their guard after cold callers approached residents claiming to be working for the council.

West Dunbartonshire Council say some people have been offered new boilers by bogus callers claiming they are working on behalf of the local authority.

In a statement, the council said: “Please note that West Dunbartonshire Council never sends employees to undertake cold calling and will always advise tenants by letter if we will be working in your area.

“In addition, all genuine council employees will be wearing identification and will be happy to show this to you.

“If you are approached at your door, please be careful. If you think the person may be part of a scam, you can report this to West Dunbartonshire Trading via our advice partners Advice Direct Scotland on 0808 800 9060.”
