A care home death linked to Covid-19 was recorded in West Dunbartonshire in the latest National Records of Scotland figures.
The death, which was registered between June 22 and June 28, became the 123rd to be linked to the virus locally since the pandemic began, with it being the first recorded in a care home during the month of June.
Statistics now show that 59 care home residents have had the condition mentioned on their death certificate, whilst a further 59 have died in hospital and five at home.
The news came after West Dunbartonshire went a whole week without a Covid related death being recorded between June 15 and June 21, the first time that had happened since lockdown was introduced in March.
There was positive news in Argyll and Bute, as the local authority registered no new deaths linked to the coronavirus - whilst the nationwide total of 35 deaths was the lowest recorded since March.
The figures also showed that the number of people dying from all causes in Scotland returned to normal levels last week, with 1005 deaths below the 1026 average recorded over the past five years.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “Last week, the weekly deaths total was 46 higher than the average - and 11 weeks ago, it was 878 higher than the five-year average.”
“This week’s statistics again tell of the real and sustained progress we are making in tackling Covid.
“However the numbers also speak of heartbreak for many. We can take some comfort in the trends shown by today’s data, but we should never lose sight of the fact that every single death represented by these numbers is a tragedy.”
