West Dunbartonshire pet lovers asked to donate for animal home open day

Animal lovers are being asked to donate prizes, empty hampers and gift baskets for the annual open day at the Scottish SPCA's Dumbarton rehoming centre.

Scotland's animal welfare charity will be opening their doors to the public on May 12 and are looking for kind-hearted individuals to hand in much-needed prizes for raffles and tombolas.

Cleaning cut to once a week at West Dunbartonshire Council's £15m flagship building

Dumbarton animal rescue and rehoming centre manager, Judy Button, said: "Last year our centre took in 776 abused, abandoned and injured animals and 2019 is proving to be just as challenging.

"Our open days are a great way to show the public what goes on in the centres and offers them the chance to meet the animals in our care who are searching for their forever homes. It’s also a great opportunity to spend time with friends and family, or to come along and meet new people.

"We’re looking for generous animal lovers to donate wine and other drink bottles, chocolates, toys, toiletries, gift cards and empty hampers for our tombola and raffle."

Tributes are paid to the ‘Bishop of Bellsmyre’: a friend to all

Anyone looking to donate prizes can drop them off at the centre on Dumbarton Road in Milton between 10am and 4pm, six days a week (closed Tuesday).
