West Dunbartonshire is the McDonald's capital of Scotland

West Dunbartonshire is the McDonald’s capital of Scotland.

The district has more branches of the fast-food restaurant per head than anywhere else in the country, according to a new analysis.

The study used the company’s branch locator to pinpoint the location of all 1296 McDonald’s in the UK.

It then used the most recent population figures published by the Office for National Statistics to work out which local authorities have the most - and fewest - McDonald’s per head.

It turns out West Dunbartonshire really loves the golden arches.

The district has a total of four McDonalds, or one for every 22,465 people who live there.

There is one in Balloch, another at St James Retail Park in Dumbarton and two others in Clydebank.

Glasgow came a distant second, with one McDonalds for every 32,372 residents.
