West Dunbartonshire Active Schools clubs to be cancelled due to coronavirus

All Active Schools after-school and lunchtime clubs will be cancelled indefinitely from midnight tonight (Monday) it has been confirmed.

The groups, which cover a range of sports for kids throughout Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven have been called off as the country continues to battle against COVID-19.

In a statement on Twitter Active Schools West Dunbartonshire said: "As of midnight tonight (Mon 16 Mar) all our lunchtime & after-school clubs will stop as requested by west Dunbartonshire Council's Education Dept due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic."

It will come as a further blow for sporty kids in the area, with youth football, rugby and hockey all suspended for the foreseeable future due to the pandemic.

That has left clubs including Dumbarton United, Renton Craigandro and Loch Lomond Rugby Club out of action - and not knowing if their seasons will be completed.
