West College Scotland to suspend face-to-face teaching by end of week

The West College Scotland is the latest education institution announcing face-to-face teaching will be suspended in response to coronavirus.

The college confirmed the move on Facebook this afternoon, urging students to work from home where advised to do so.

The likes of the University of Glasgow, Strathclyde University and Glasgow Caledonian University suspended face-to-face teaching earlier this week.

West College Scotland say: "Following the announcements by the UK and Scottish Governments, West College Scotland will be suspending all face-to face teaching by Friday 20 March. If you have been advised to work from home by your lecturers, then you should do so. Your lecturers will provide further curriculum advice and support.

"We know you will be concerned about many issues including, funding and progression. These and other important issues are addressed on the Student Intranet.

"Please visit: http://student.westcollegescotland.ac.uk/

"Please take time to read the guidance. We will be releasing further updated guidance to students later today.

"It is important that you follow carefully the government’s latest health advice. If you have an underlying health condition or are among any other high-risk group, you should not come to College.

"Please remember you can keep up to date with all developments on our Student Intranet, social media platforms, MyDay or the College website: www.westcollegescotland.ac.uk. "
