West Bromwich Albion vs Newcastle United: Lee Ryder's FA Cup verdict

It's probably still early to get too excited about what Newcastle United can achieve in the FA Cup this season.

But ahead of them lies an opportunity to reach the quarter-finals and find themselves just 90 minutes away from Wembley.

United fans will travel to West Brom full of hope but know that the game is far from easy.

West Brom have already knocked West Ham out of the competition and while Slaven Bilic will make changes this is still a difficult one for the Magpies.

Lee Ryder's prediction

United players have been well drilled on the importance of this game with Steve Bruce desperate to lead out his side in the latter stages of the competition.

Having heard a few whispers on what the line-up could be I feel that Newcastle will be strong enough to book their place in the next round.

It would be nice to see them do it in 90 minutes but penalties have been practiced this week in the event of a shoot-out, something they narrowly avoided at Oxford.

Bruce is dedicated to the competition this season and I expect them to keep the dream alive.

Referee

Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)

Taylor won't have the help of VAR as the game takes place at a Championship venue.

Charity bet

Newcastle to qualify for next stage at 19/20
