West Bromwich Albion and Fulham rival Southampton for midfielder linked with Bristol City in January

West Bromwich Albion and Fulham are both interested in a player that was linked to Bristol City in January.

The Robins left their business in January fairly late, bringing in Nahki Wells, Markus Henriksen and Filip Benkvoic in the final days of the transfer window.

Yet go back to the start of the window and, along with Eddie Nketiah, City fans were all talking about one man; FC Lorient's Yoane Wissa.

It was never entirely clear how interested City were in Wissa, with most of the buzz coming from social media, and, as always in the transfer window, eventually talk moved swiftly on to other targets.

Wissa could now well be on his way to the Championship, however.

Telefoot report that both West Brom and Fulham are keen on the midfielder, who has netted an impressive 16 goals in 30 appearances this season.

Wissa can play on the wing, and his return has also stirred some interest from Premier League clubs, with Watford and Southampton both said to be keeping tabs on his progress.

The 23-year-old is a pacey player, who is comfortable at cutting inside and finding the back of the net, and he has also attracted interest from Germany.

With City fans all monitoring Wissa in January, they may well opt to keep a keen eye on how he does should he complete a transfer move to England.
