West Brom to announce loan deal for Chelsea wonderkid Conor Gallagher after Slaven Bilic update

West Bromwich Albion are poised announce the loan signing of Conor Gallagher from Chelsea.

As revealed by football.london , the 20-year-old, who impressed during his time at Charlton Athletic and Swansea City last season, has been rewarded with a new long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder put pen-to-paper on the contract on Wednesday before heading up to the Midlands to complete his season-long loan today (Thursday).

And Baggies boss Slaven Bilic has revealed - via The Athletic - that the loan deal is done barring the completion of paperwork.

That would suggest that an announcement is imminent.

However, Gallagher is facing a race against time to be available for the upcoming clash against Everton at Goodison Park.

According to Premier League rules, players must be registered by their clubs by 12pm on the Friday before the weekend's fixtures.

The paperwork must be completed by midday on Friday, September 18 for him to feature on Merseyside.

West Brom have won the race ahead of a number of clubs to the signature of Gallagher.

Gallagher looked set to completing a loan spell to Crystal Palace, having completed a medical and the clubs agreeing terms.

But the Eagles prioritised a move for a striker and when they were able to snap up Michy Batshuayi for the campaign, Gallagher’s move fell through due to rules over only allowing to loan one player from another Premier League club.

And football.london understands Aston Villa made a late attempt to get him.

But Gallagher is now set to spend the season with Slaven Bilic and at the Hawthorns to get Premier League experience.
