West Brom star sends Championship title message to Leeds United

Leeds United edged ahead of West Bromwich Albion at the weekend and returned to the top of the Championship table at the weekend as we enter the final nine games of the season.

The two sides have occupied the two automatic promotion spots for the majority of the season, with the chasing pack currently six points off the Baggies.

The bookies have made the two sides the two clear promotion favourites and while Leeds' focus remains on promotion ahead of title talk, it would appear that the Baggies are targeting a trophy.

That's according to former England midfielder Jake Livermore.

“We can only focus on ourselves,” he told Birmingham Live after his side dropped points at Swansea City at the weekend, which allowed Leeds to take over again at the top of the table.

“The gap is still six points but we came away from Swansea very disappointed we didn't win.

“Leeds, good luck to them. They can do whatever they need to do. But we want to win the league.

“It’s chins up and we go again next week. There is no doom and gloom.”

The Baggies face a West Midlands derby against Birmingham City in Saturday's early kick-off, knowing that a draw would - temporarily at least - see them return to the top of the pile.

Leeds then visit Cardiff City on Sunday in the final Championship fixture of the weekend.
