West Brom spark social media spat with Nottingham Forest after 'rent free' tweet

Saturday’s draw between Nottingham Forest and West Bromwich Albion left those associated with both clubs feeling like two points were dropped.

A number of decisions made by referee Keith Stroud were significant talking points from the Sky Bet Championship clash at the The Hawthorns, which ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

Forest players were contesting Sammy Ameobi was fouled in the build-up to Tobias Figueiredo’s own goal, which Baggies boss Slaven Bilic later admitted should have gone in the Reds’ favour.

There was more controversy after Jake Livermore’s challenge on Yuri Ribeiro, which went unpunished by Stroud.

Albion’s twitter account has posted a tweet which features screenshots of posts from Forest’s account.

The four images display tweets which show Forest’s frustration over various instances in the game, including one referring to referee Stroud.

The Baggies tweeted the four pictures with the words “rent free”, accompanied by a snoring emoji, as well as another of a man shrugging.

Both clubs are now only able to face each other again this season should they feature in the play-offs - but the battle for promotion off the field, at least, seems to have intensified.
