West Brom's massive injury boost as they get set for Leeds United title battle

The Championship returns to action in a week's time, with Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion clear of the chasing pack in the automatic promotion places.

The chasing pack are led by Fulham, who sit six points behind the Baggies and seven adrift of leaders Leeds, but neither Marcelo Bielsa or Slaven Bilic will be taking anything for granted as they embark on the final nine matches of the season.

Promotion will be the ultimate goal for the two head coaches, but neither will shirk at the opportunity to deliver a trophy to a pair of fanbases that have suffered ups and downs in recent years.

Leeds' latest training footage show a side chomping at the bit to get back in action, as they look to get over the blow of another hamstring problem for Jean-Kevin Augustin.

But how are the Baggies shaping up ahead of the return from a fitness point of view?

We spoke to Joseph Chapman of our sister title Birmingham Live, to update us on how The Hawthorns treatment table is looking - and it looks like the break came at a decent time for the West Midlanders.

"Like many clubs during the suspension of the campaign, the unforeseen break between matches has worked in Albion’s favour when it comes to the injury front," Chapman told us.

"Two key players were missing prior to lockdown - they being Grady Diangana, a revelation during his loan from West Ham, and Ahmed Hegazi, who had forced his way into the starting XI.

"Both suffered hamstring problems, but both are back in full training ahead of the resumption of the campaign.

"Indeed in the case of Diangana, he returns facing added competition after Kamil Grosicki and Callum Robinson joined in January, to help out in his absence.

"The only certain absentees are Jonathan Leko, who suffered an ACL injury while on loan at Charlton, and Nathan Ferguson who is recovering from surgery.

"Sam Field has returned to Charlton to complete his loan campaign.

"All in all, things are looking very healthy for Slaven Bilic in terms of personnel - but with such an embarrassment of riches comes the responsibility to utilise them all accordingly."
