West Brom draw up three-man shortlist to replace Steve Bruce with Sean Dyche left off

West Brom are drawing up a shortlist after sacking Steve Bruce with Carlos Corberan set for talks.

Albion are set to speak to several candidates and run a full recruitment process after axing Bruce with the Baggies in the Championship relegation zone. Former Newcastle manager Bruce, 61, won just eight of his 32 games in charge at The Hawthorns after arriving in February.

Now Hawthorns CEO Ron Gourlay is assembling a list of options to speak to but Sean Dyche is holding out for a Premier League job. Names in the frame include former Huddersfield coach Corberan, 39, who left this summer after guiding the Terriers to last term’s play-off final against the odds. He subsequently lasted just 11 games at Olympiakos before being replaced last month and is available.

Millwall boss Gary Rowett is also of interest as he is used to operating on a modest budget in London which appeals to the Baggies' Chinese owners.

Former Albion target Chris Wilder is expected to be spoken to as well but David Wagner, pursued by the club in June 2021, is unavailable due to his terms of exit from Young Boys.

West Brom are winless in their last eight League games with the final straw for Bruce coming as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Luton. Albion are back in action with a trip to Reading on Saturday.

Bruce's backroom staff of Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence and Alex Bruce have also left leaving under 21s boss Richard Beale in interim charge with club legend James Morrison and goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh.

West Brom wrote in a statement: "West Bromwich Albion have today parted company with Manager Steve Bruce. Backroom staff Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence and Alex Bruce have also left The Hawthorns.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Steve Bruce and his coaching staff for their efforts since arriving in February. Under-21s coach Richard Beale will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis, assisted by James Morrison and Gary Walsh. The process of recruiting a new Manager is now under way and an appointment will be confirmed in due course."
