West Bridgford takeaway fined for breaching Covid-19 regulations

A takeaway has been fined for breaching the coronavirus regulations.

Trent Bridge Spice, in West Bridgford, landed a fixed penalty notice for allowing customers to use tables and chairs inside the premises in Radcliffe Road.

The business, which sells kebabs, pizzas and burger, was fined by officers at Rushcliffe Borough Council on June 12.

Today the authority issued a reminder to food and drink businesses about operating safety during Covid-19.

All food and drink must be taken away from the premises and customers are advised to not congregate outside the business, within guidelines outlined by the government.

Coun Rob Inglis, Rushcliffe Borough Council’s cabinet portfolio holder for environment and safety, said: "Our teams have been visiting businesses to ensure they are able serve customers securely and to give advice on any adaptations required.

"Any breach will be taken very seriously and a blatant disregard for the rules will not be tolerated.

“We understand the current financial climate for businesses and have advised the owners in this case to draw up steps they can take to trade more safely in future.”

In May a West Bridgford bar was rapped after customers were spotted on the premises drinking pints of beer in breach of lockdown rules.

Zinc Bar, in Central Avenue, was given a £100 fixed penalty notice and warned by the council not to sell any food or drink on the premises - unless it's to takeaway - with immediate effect.

It followed reports from eye witnesses of people sitting both inside and out drinking pints.

In March, planning rules were changed by government to allow restaurants, cafes and pubs to apply to run as takeaways for up to 12 months.
