West Bengal School Service Commission caveat in apex court on teacher hiring

Kolkata: The West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court anticipating that some of the “aggrieved” candidates might move the apex court. The SSC filed the caveat petition on Saturday urging the court to give it a chance of hearing if someone moves the court against the SSC.

The SSC move comes a day after the Calcutta HC on Friday vacated the stay on the recruitment of upper primary teachers in state-run schools in Bengal after the commission published the new interview list with break-up of marks and citing reasons why names of some candidates were not there in the list.

Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay in his order, however, laid out a detailed grievance redress system laying emphasis on a senior officer giving a personal hearing to candidates who may be aggrieved by the results.

Candidates while welcoming the order assembled at SSC office and wanted it to keep interviews on hold till the complaint redress process was over. SSC authorities told the demonstrators on Friday that it would take an “appropriate decision” only after getting a copy of the order.
