KOLKATA: Five persons have been arrested for allegedly barging into a BL Block home in Salt Lake and assaulting a family of 10 on Thursday morning.
Police said that Mahesh Singhania, who had moved into BL 50 on April 25, alleged in his complaint that several men led by one Bhairav Chakraborty had been threatening him to leave the house and not take possession over the past few days. On Thursday, Chakraborty, along with several others, had allegedly tried to barge into the house and beat up the family members.
Singhania had taken the flat on lease from a real estate agent and promoter and moved in. Singhania alleged that Chakraborty was a tenant who had not been paying his dues for the past three years and when he took over the property on lease, Chakraborty and his goons would threaten him and often drop the name of a senior political leader.
The cops have arrested Chakraborty, along with four others, who had allegedly led the attack on the house.
