KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate is writing to both the ESI Hospital and the SSKM hospital to collect voice samples of Sujay Krishna Bhadra alias Kalighater Kaku.
The agency now has the order from the special PMLA court asked the ESI hospital to form a board of doctors including a cardiologist.
The agency, which has been trying to collect voice samples of Bhadra since July 14 this year, faced several hurdles in the process. After the nod from the PMLA court, Bhadra had to be released on parole following the death of his wife. Meanwhile, Bhadra had challenged the order of the PMLA court in the Calcutta High court and his appeal was turned down by the court. Before ED could collect the voice sample, he was admitted at hospital owing to some cardiac issues. He was later operated at a private nursing home.
While he was being taken to the Presidency Correctional home he complained of chest pain and shortness of breath again and was admitted at the SSKM Hospital. ED alleged that during discharge Bhadra had some problem of palpitation arising from Ischemic heart and a non-healing ulcer on the right leg. The agency, in a submission before the court, said that he was fit for providing voice samples. ED further alleged that the process of collection of voice samples had faced “unwarranted delays” at the SSKM hospital. The agency, in court, raised concerns about the impartiality and fairness of the opinion of the medical board at the SSKM hospital.
The court asked the ESI hospital to form a board of doctors for Bhadra including a cardiologist, a neurologist and an ENT specialist to check health conditions of Bhadra and give opinion about the fitness of Bhadra regarding collection of voice samples.
