SURI: A wedding ceremony was marred by the death of a middle-aged invitee who was killed in a coffee-making machine explosion at Lambadarpur village, on the outskirts of Suri, on Sunday night. Several others were injured.
Swapan Das was among those chatting, coffee cups and snacks in hand, near the coffee counter at the bride’s house when the machine exploded, village sources said.
Das and the others were rushed to hospital in Suri, the district headquarters of Birbhum, where doctors declared him dead. The autospy was done on Monday and police have started an investigation.
The bridegroom, from the same village, arrived after the incident and the marriage ceremony was conducted amid scaled-down rituals.
