West Bengal: BMC starts fever survey to check dengue

KOLKATA: Bengal chief secretary H K Dwivedi held a meeting on Friday on ways to control dengue and asked local bodies to conduct door-to-door campaign and spread awareness.

So far, 11 dengue cases have been reported in BMC area this year. The BMC authorities have started a fever survey in all its 41 wards across Salt Lake and Rajarhat-Gopalpur. BMC MMiC (Health) Banibrata Banerjee confirmed there was no report of any significant rise in dengue cases in the BMC area yet. Banerjee said the fever survey report would be stored in a centralised data bank with the individuals’ locations. The door-to-door fever survey would also help detect Covid, officials said. “All families will be urged to go for their next dose of Covid vaccine,” an official said.

The BMC is also taking up mosquito larvae-detection and clean-up drive. “Premises with mosquito larvae need to be cleaned up,” said an official.
