KESHPUR: A BJP worker was allegedly beaten up by Trinamool Congress supporters in West Midnapore’s Keshpur on Friday night. Three persons have been arrested following an FIR.
According to the complaint, BJP worker Saidul Rahman — who had fled home after the Bengal election results on May 2 — returned to Keshpur on Thursday with the help of police. He was attacked in front of the party office within 24 hours, and sustained head and leg injuries.
“We have lodged several complaints with the NHRC. A team visited victims of political violence too,” said state BJP president Dilip Ghosh.
Trinamool district president Ajit Maiti said the attack on Rahman was the result of BJP’s internal feud. “None of our workers is associated with the incident. The BJP is coming out with fake cases and misleading NHRC,” he added.
