KOLKATA: Birbhum’s Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal on Sunday sent an email to CBI explaining his inability to appear for interrogation on Monday. The leader had been asked to appear before the central agency in connection with the illegal cattle trade case.
CBI summoned Mondal after conducting simultaneous raids in a total of 13 places in Birbhum and Kolkata. Teams had earlier searched the residences of Mondal loyalist Kerim Khan and his aide Ziaul Haque at Ilambazar and Nanoor. They also reached the house of stone merchant Tulu Mandal, known to be close to the Trinamool leader. Apart from Rs 17 lakh and 10 mobile phones, the agency recovered pen drives, hard disks and a locker key.
