A West Belfast strongman will attempt to break a British record set by the legendary Eddie Hall this weekend.
Michael Downey is competing at the European Log Lift and Deadlift Championships in Glasgow.
The massive event is part of the Scottish Fitness Expo and Michael will be in action over two days.
On Saturday he will look to extend his Irish Log Press Record from 193kg to 200k.
Then on Sunday Michael will attempt to officially break the British Dumbbell record currently held at 124kg by former World's Strongest Man winner Hall.
The challenge involves lifting a weight from the ground to shoulder, and then pressed above head with one arm.
Michael has already broken the record unofficially, having previously lifted 125kg at Excel Gym in Derriaghy back in April .
Now he's determined to make it official.
"I'm hoping to press 125kg one arm for a new official British record," Michael told Belfast Live Sport.
"And, all being well, I want to try and add a few more kgs to it on the day.
"Training has been going great and I feel strong. I am ready.
"Eddie's record was set at the Arnold Classic Strongman Show in 2015, so it would be great to finally break it.
"It is a big event and I can't wait. The competition will be tough but this is what you want as an athlete.
