West Belfast shop robbed by men 'armed with screwdriver'

A West Belfast shop has been robbed by two men, one believed to have been armed with a screwdriver.

Police say it was reported at around 11am this morning that two males entered the store in the Jasmine Way area of Twinbrook, threatened the staff and demanded money.

They subsequently made off with a quantity of cigarettes and money.

A PSNI spokesperson added: "The first male is described as being around 6ft tall, of slim build, wearing a light blue coat, grey shorts and white mask. The second male is described as being around 5’9” in height, of slim build, wearing a black hooded top, black shorts and a knee bandage. He is believed to have a scar on his face.

"Detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101, quoting reference 619 13/08/20."

Sinn Féin councillor Stephen Magennis said two female staff members were left shaken by the incident.

He said: "I called to offer my support as well as a lot of the Twinbrook community. This is a disgrace and we need to catch the ones involved. If you know anything get in touch."
