West Belfast school closed for two days after confirmed coronavirus cluster

A West Belfast Secondary School is closed after multiple positive Covid-19 cases in their community over the weekend.

St Genevieve's High School, on the Stewartstown Road, issued an announcement to parents and guardians on Sunday.

They will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday.

A statement read: "On advice from the PHA the school building will be closed for everyone on Monday 12th October and Tuesday 13th October to facilitate a deep clean of all areas in the school due to multiple confirmed cases over the weekend.

"I understand that this is a worrying time for all our pupils and parents but the safety of all our school community is a priority.

"Pupils can continue learning through their Google Classrooms and teachers will resource their subject areas for the next few days.

"Thank you all for your continued support. I will continue to keep you all updated."
