West Belfast police investigating after man suffers head injuries in alleged assault

A man in his 20s is being treated in hospital for head injuries suffered in an alleged Belfast assault.

Police are investigating the incident, reported around 11.20pm at Arundel Walk is the west of the city on Tuesday night.

A man and woman, aged 26 and 19, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Detectives are investigating the report of a serious assault at Arundel Walk in West Belfast on Tuesday 14th April.

"The (alleged) assault was reported to police at around 11.20pm on Tuesday night after a man aged in his 20s sustained serious head injuries outside a house in the area.

"The man is currently in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.

"A man aged 26 and a woman aged 19 were arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and are both in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

"It is believed that another man left the scene before the arrival of police and efforts are ongoing to determine his whereabouts.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information about the incident is asked to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 2484 14/04/20.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
