West Belfast chip shop named best in the city

West Belfast chip shop Feeley’s has been named the best chippy in the city at the first annual NI Fish and Chip Shop Awards.

The Shaw's Road establishment beat off competition from some of the top fryers in Belfast to take the top prize at the awards ceremony in the Europa Hotel.

Second place on the night went to Oh My Cod on Alliance Avenue, while the nominees included Aldo’s (Falls Road), Manny’s (Antrim Road), Chip Guyz (Springfield Road) and Raffo’s (Springfield Road).

With numerous other awards up for grabs on the night, the overall prize for Best Fish and Chip Shop in Northern Ireland went to Captain Jack’s in Portaferry.

The lucky winners were decided by a number of taste tests carried out by local food experts, as well as a public vote on each award.
