West Belfast care home opens 'brand new pub' for residents

A West Belfast care home has created a fun space for their residents to relax, listen to music and enjoy a tipple.

Our Lady's Care Home, which is based on the Ardnava Road just off the Falls Road, shared photos of their 'brand new pub' on Thursday.

They said their new space is officially open and residents have already been enjoying it.

"We have all of our residents favourite shorts, ales and of course the perfect crisps to accompany any tipple," they said.

"Our residents had great fun listening to some old time hits, playing darts and having a good laugh with each other.

"They even enjoyed some gorgeous Guinness scones and Guinness pies. Cheers to that!"

The home is owned by The Macklin Group, headed by the Macklin family and has been caring for people for 30 years.

The Macklin Group's post attracted many comments praising them for the idea.

One woman said: "Great idea making people's lives a little better."

Another wrote: "Brilliant idea. I am sure the residents will enjoy it so much their own special wee pub. Awesome!"
