West Belfast burglar steals £120 pension from 82-year-old woman

An 82-year-old woman was robbed of her pension in a callous burglary in West Belfast.

Police said £120 was stolen from the woman after a robbery in Teeling Avenue in Lagmore.

Sinn Fein Councillor Daniel Baker has expressed his shock at the incident.

He told Belfast Live: "As a community we must look out for one another and in particular our elderly neighbours.

"I am saddened this has happened and so close to Christmas makes it that bit worse.

"If anyone has any information I would ask them to come forward. I would also encourage everyone to check on their elderly and vulnerable neighbours and make sure they lock their windows and doors."

A PSNI spokesman urged: "A gentle reminder to look out for elderly and vulnerable neighbours and please report anything suspicious to us.

"Any info regarding this please call 101 quoting ref 1267 9/12/19."
