Wesley Fofana suffered a serious leg injury during Leicester City’s pre-season friendly against Villarreal on Wednesday night.
With Leicester leading 3-0, Fofana was on the receiving end of a lunging scissor challenge from behind by Nino, leaving the Foxes defender with what looked to be a broken ankle.
Paramedics and club doctors quickly rushed onto the King Power Stadium turf to treat Fofana, with his team-mates and the club’s staff in the dugout distraught following the incident.
Following five minutes of treatment, Fofana was stretchered off to applause from the Leicester fans.
If the injury is as serious as first feared, then Leicester could be without Fofana for a serious stretch of the upcoming Premier League season.
