Wes Thomas seals Notts County victory at Solihull Moors as winning run continues

Notts County secured their fourth successive win as Wes Thomas' goal snatched a 1-0 win at promotion-chasing Solihull Moors.

The striker tapped in at the back post after he capitalised on a fine cross from Kyle Wootton who had won possession while chasing a lost cause.

It was no more than Notts deserved for dealing with an aerial bombardment from Tim Flowers' side throughout the National League clash.

Notts were much the better side in possession, but they found chances hard to come by although Kyle Wootton had the best of them when he met  a corner from Michael Doyle but headed over the  bar.

Solihull Moors' Callum Howe & Notts County's Kyle Wootton (Dan Westwell)

Solihull tested Notts aerially at every opportunity, but the Magpies defended brilliantly and they eventually got the goal their persistence deserved.

Wootton did superbly to rob Callum Howe of the ball and he had the presence of mind to fire towards Thomas who grabbed his ninth goal of the campaign.

Solihull applied late pressure and Notts were indebted to Sam Slocombe who made an incredible stop to deny Danny Wright's fierce volley.
