Wes Nelson 'bouncing back' from painful fall and nasty cold ahead of Dancing on Ice live show

Wes Nelson is back in training ahead of this week’s Dancing On Ice after struggling to train following a bad injury and a nasty cold.

Nelson revealed on Tuesday that he had suffered a “really bad fall,” footage of which will be shown this weekend, and had been left with an egg-shaped lump on his knee .

He said he was in “a lot of pain” but was hoping to get back out on the rink soon, as well as being plagued by the “worst cold” which was impacting his breathing and eating.

“He's bounced back and is determined to train hard for Sunday,” a source told The Sun.

Away from the skating competition, Nelson’s personal life had also been in the headlines after the 20-year-old split with his girlfriend Megan Barton Hanson.

The couple, who met on Love Island, called time on their seven-month romance last week with Barton Hanson announcing the sad news on her social media.

After a statement parodying Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s “conscious uncoupling” statement, Barton Hanson revealed that her “world was crumbling” in the wake of the split.

Meanwhile, Nelson appeared to have more of a sense of humour as he shared a series of memes posted by fans about the hamster he shared with his ex-girlfriend .

Nelson will attempt pull off the famous Head Banger manoeuvre on Sunday night's Fairytale-themed show.

Dancing On Ice is on ITV, Sunday at 6pm
