Wes Nelson admits his 'body is breaking down' after intense Dancing On Ice training

Wes Nelson has revealed that his body is “starting to break down” during the final week of intense Dancing On Ice training.

The Love Island star, 20, is hoping to lift the ice crown this weekend with partner Vanessa Bauer after wowing each week with his newfound skills.

But Nelson revealed that the gruelling training regime has taken its toll on his body, resulting in him losing muscle.

“This is the first week my body has started to break down completely,” Nelson told Good Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold.

“I've lost 10kg of muscle, it's a lot. But even though I've got smaller in size I think I've got stronger.”

And it’s not just his body that the ITV show is playing havoc with, as he was left crying during training that week over his failed relationship with Megan Barton Hanson .

Nelson split from his Love Island girlfriend earlier this year and was overcome with emotion after training to dance a routine inspired by his parents’ weddings.

Welling up as he admitted he has “been in love”, Nelson said: “My mum and dad completely personify the word love. Of course I’ve experienced love but I’d love to love like my parents do.

“Me and Megs had a really really good bond, it makes me upset now to talk about it. It isn’t great and it makes me upset now to talk about it. Oh no, I’m getting upset now.”

Nelson wiped his eyes as he made it through the rest of his VT, before channelling his emotion into his routine to Luther Vandross’ Never Too Much.

Nelson will skate against Strictly star James Jordan and singer Saara Aalto during Sunday night’s live final.
